The new website mix practical tools with inspiration – with Elfas simple end flexible production supply in focus
In August 2009 Deasign was appointed as Elfa’s digital design agency with the task to to revamp their webiste, together with four different partners. Deasign’s task was to develop a new look & feel for the brand and apply this on the new website and secure the user experience throughout the website.Elfa, the storage experts has for over sixty years been standing for flexible and sustainable storage with Scandinavian design in focus. The product concept stands for safe, durable and flexible systems in carefully selected materials. With infinite combination options Elfa creates orderliness in all homes.
The main purpose with the new website was to make it work like as an inspiring and favourable tool when planning storage solutions but also run it towards stores as well as simplify and shorten the buying process.
The answer to the challenge became a new website with three primary sections/applications:
1. A new product department with a product presentation on a module level as well as a simplified process before initial store visit. Even if it is not possible to buy online in the initial phase, a solution has be developed and implemented and can be applied in the future.
2. A planning tool (Plan your space) where the user can tailor their own solution and get it visualised in 3D, save it or print and bring it to the store.
3. A inspiration tool (Style your space) where the user can elaborate with colour, material and style on all of Elfa’s product in various room settings.
In addition to above a Google Map- based function was developed where the visitor can find the closest store as well as a picture library with sophisticated share and favourite functions.
To implement the various solutions, several technical suppliers were involved, developing the solutions with a mix of HTML, javascript, shockwave and flash – the focus was to highlight the main function and present it in best possible way.
The website has just launched and we have therefore not been able capture enough data to measure performance against set project objectives.
Deasign’s performance is measured through values such as how the users perceive the brand online, llevel of inspiration etc.
