About Deasign Russia

After having successfully established an office in Finland we were ready for the next step – Russia. We started the Russian establishment by having a team of Russian creatives working at our office in Helsinki during the autumn of 2010. The St Petersburg office opened up officially in January 2011 and now employes 10 persons.

Background

The reason for setting up an office in Finland was that an increasing number of our clients had the entire Nordic region as their business scope. They needed a web agency that was able to meet their organization and fulfil their needs of communication. Currently we are observing new trends on the market: an increasing number of companies turn towards the Russian market. This is true of both Nordic companies that are setting up offices in Russia, but also of companies that want to address the growing Russian tourist population. That was why we decided to open our Russian office in St Petersburg. Do you need help in communicating digitally with the Russian market? Contact Anna Gullstrand who is the general director of Deasign Russia.

The Russian digital market

In spite of the economic recession, the advertising and digital market grew in Russia in 2009. Today, Russia is the 8th largest market when it comes to Internet users, and will soon take the lead over Great Britain, which is number 7. More specifically, this implies 42 million Internet users. The broadband penetration is also good, especially in the bigger cities.

Worth mentioning is also that Russians are among the top-users of social media in the world. The average Russian spends 6.6 hours per month on social media and 59% of the Internet users use social networks. While Facebook dominates in Europe, local actors on the market are still most popular in Russia (e.g. Vkontakte.ru, with 14 million users, and odnoklassniki.ru, with 7.8 million users). Facebook only holds a 7th place. Neither does Google enjoy a very strong position. Instead, the local actor Yandex holds a 54% share of the search engine market.
